Webber was the Playmate of the Month in the May, 1955 and February, 1956 issues of "Playboy" magazine.
She married Joe Webber in 1955 and was discovered by the same man who discovered the young Marilyn Monroe. Diane worked as a chorus girl and took formal ballet training. She was the daughter of writer/producer Arthur Guy Empey and his wife Marguerite Andrus. It's unfortunate that Erin Grey never developed as a spoksman after her years as a nudist. It will be some timebefore someone of her stature develops within nudisim, and I'm not sure in today's world that is possible. She, however, is a delightful person her smile is what you see in the pics-though she usually arches an eyebrow to those students she is teaching-and THAT is worth more than a 1,000 words. She did say that the tan helped her modeling, and being a dancer helped with her athletic play, an dliving aboard a boat for many years. Interestingly, she never talked about her days as a nudist or Playboy or photographic model-it took a lot to get her to talk about her 'old' days mostly because of the bad aftertaste of her marriage to Joe. She was a freuent visitor to my house where she kept her horse, and also instructed a Belly Dance Troupe and often helped put on performances. So, to me thanks for the information about about Erin Gray, but she no Diane Webber.ĭiane continues her Belly Dance instruction in the LA area, as well as other activities, including working with her horse. It's nice to know, that at one time or another Erin Gray enjoyed this lifestyle, but some where down the line her heart fell out of love with naturism and all is left is some old pictures from them days she uses to enjoy. There is one thing, as going to a nudist clubs with your grandparents as a young child growing up, but it will never compare with Diane Webber being a spokewoman to the nudist ideas. That all cool and everything, but Erin Gray do not compare to a true nudist icon as Diane Webber.

There is a Erin Gray Yahoo fan group where her nudist days have been discussed, from when it was just a rumor, to after her publicist confirmed it. It is true that Erin never did any nude work in her career, which is interesting since she started out as a model. She has said she enjoyed her time with her Grandparents very much, but has never spoken of the nudism except to confirm it through her publicist. They apparently went to Swallows Sun Island Club in El Cajon on occasion. Yes, Erin Gray was a nudist from about 8-11 years old when she lived with her Grandparents in Palm Springs.
